12/6/2025 - Fast Starts and Big Wins: Hawks Shine in Week One 

The Hockinson High School wrestling program opened the month of December with an action-packed week of competition, featuring home duals and multiple tournaments across Southwest Washington and Oregon. Across every lineup, the Hawks showed continued growth, depth, and toughness while competing against some of the region’s top programs.

December 2 – Home Duals vs. Mark Morris (Boys) & Stevenson (Girls)

Boys Junior Varsity

Hockinson’s JV squad came out firing against Mark Morris, posting a series of decisive victories highlighted by bonus-point performances throughout the lineup.

JV standouts included:

• Caleb O’Dell (144) and Owen Donowitz (150) with strong wins by fall.
  
  

• Luis Navarro-Soreque (165) earning two victories on the night, including a major decision.
  
  

• Benjamin Brown (190) securing back-to-back first-period pins.
  
  

• Lucas White (285) closing the dual with a hard-fought fall.
  
  

The JV group continued to show depth and improvement, setting a strong foundation for the program.

Girls Varsity vs. Stevenson

The Hockinson girls delivered an impressive performance, earning multiple first-period pins and controlling the pace of the dual from start to finish.

Hockinson winners included:

• Zowie Lehecka and Amelia Hansen at 115, combining for multiple quick falls.
  
  

• Olivia Archuleta (120) with two victories by fall.
  
  

• Ashlyn McKay (130) and Teagan Trenda (135) continuing their strong early-season form.
  
  

• Elliana De La Rocha (140) and Faith Sjothun (235) adding key wins to secure the dual.
  
  

Boys Varsity vs. Mark Morris

The Hawks claimed victories in 10 of 14 varsity bouts, highlighted by a mix of explosive pins and controlled decision wins.

Varsity highlights:

• Colin Richardson (113), John Carey (120), Austin Wallace (144), Liam McKee (150), Richard Soule (157), and Leniel Sutton (175) all earned wins by fall.
  
  

• Izayiah Rivera (126) secured a hard-fought sudden victory win.
  
  

• Wyatt Carter (165) added a major decision to round out the scoring.
  
  

December 5 – Tournament Action in Oregon and Washington

Boys at David Douglas Dual Tournament (OR)

The Hawks opened the tournament with strong performances in the upper weights and key bonus-point wins.

• Against Clackamas, Hockinson earned multiple wins by fall, including quick pins from Wyatt Carter, Leniel Sutton, Payton Thompson, and Erdalbek Mailov.
  
  

• Versus Estacada, John Carey and Liam McKee each recorded first-period pins.
  
  

• The Hawks bounced back against Mountain View (WA) with one of their strongest duals of the day, earning victories in eight matches.
  
  

Girls at Ridgefield Invitational

The Hockinson girls delivered a dominant performance, capturing the team championship with 148 points, finishing well ahead of the field.

Individual champions:

• Zowie Lehecka (115) – four wins by fall, including a finals victory.
  
  

• Teagan Trenda (135) – three straight pins to secure first place.
  
  

Additional podium finishers:

The girls’ depth was on full display, with multiple athletes earning additional placements and key match victories throughout the day.

December 6 – Wyatt Draper Invitational (Boys)

Hockinson’s boys wrapped up the week at the Wyatt Draper Invitational with several standout performances.

• John Carey (120) claimed the tournament championship, finishing the day with a strong finals win.
  
  

• Colin Richardson (113) placed 2nd, reaching the finals after two first-period pins.
  
  

• Liam McKee (150) earned 3rd place, collecting four total wins.
  
  

• Richard Soule (157) finished 4th, tallying four victories, three by fall.
  
  

Additional highlights included strong performances from Hudson Wubben, Caleb O’Dell, and Deagan Matson, each contributing multiple wins.
